Medical director supervision

I'm the licensed RN doing the injection, and every treatment is done under the supervision of a medical director. My medical director has 23 years of practice and about 12 years in aesthetics. You can look up my license on the North Carolina Board of Nursing site.

What facial balancing isn't

  • It isn't surgery. It uses injectable filler and neurotoxin. No incisions.
  • It isn't a package. There's no set number of syringes. The plan depends on your face.
  • It isn't permanent. The filler I use for most areas is hyaluronic acid (HA), which is reversible, and neurotoxin wears off.
  • It isn't about adding everywhere. Part of a good plan is deciding what to leave alone.

What it is

It's a whole-face plan. I look at how your cheeks, chin, jawline, lips, and under-eyes relate, from the front and in profile, and treat the areas that change the overall balance most. Filler adds structure. Neurotoxin softens movement, like frown lines or a gummy smile. I use Juvéderm. Different HA fillers do different jobs, and I pick the right one for you at your consult.

More detail on each piece: cheeks, jawline and chin, lips, neurotoxin.

What it costs

It's quoted at your free consult. Filler is priced per syringe and neurotoxins are $13 per unit. You see the full number before anything is booked, and we can split the plan across visits. The pricing page shows how each part is priced.

Is it worth the drive?

That's your call, and I'd rather you make it with real information. The consult is free, it comes with no obligation, and you'll leave with a plan and a price even if you decide not to go ahead. If you do treat, the two-week follow-up is included, so plan on two trips.

Pain, downtime, and how long it lasts

Expect pressure and a few pinches. Swelling can last a few days after filler, and bruising is possible. Most people go back to work the same day. MedlinePlus says cosmetic Botox may be repeated every 3 to 4 months, depending on how long the effect lasts. Filler lasts longer, depending on the product, the area, and your body.

Your first visit

I look at your face from the front and side, at rest and moving, go over your health history, and lay out what I'd treat and in what order. If you want to start the same day, we usually can. Two weeks later you come back, and adjustments are made at no charge.

Safety

Tell me if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, under 22, have an infection or rash where we'd treat, or a bleeding disorder or severe allergies. The FDA lists bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, and itching as common dermal filler side effects and says many clear up within days to weeks. The most serious risk is filler getting into a blood vessel. The FDA calls that chance low, but it can cause tissue damage, vision problems including blindness, or stroke. Get care right away for unusual pain, any change in your vision, or skin near the injection site that turns white, gray, or blue.
