Every under-eye treatment I do is under the supervision of a medical director. I do the injection myself as the licensed RN, following physician-directed protocols. My medical director has 23 years of practice and about 12 years in aesthetics. You can look up my license on the North Carolina Board of Nursing site.
The skin under the eye is thin, and too much filler there shows. It can look puffy, or catch the light in a way that reads as filler. Under-eyes that look overdone are usually the result of too much product, placed too fast.
So I go slowly and use small amounts. I'd rather you leave looking a little under-done and add at two weeks than leave looking puffy.
Under-eye filler is priced per syringe and quoted at your free consult. Small amounts usually mean a smaller bill, and you see the number before anything is booked. See the pricing page. Financing through Cherry and CareCredit is available for treatment plans.
Most people feel pressure more than pain. Some fillers contain lidocaine, a numbing medicine. If you're nervous about needles near your eyes, tell me, and we'll take it slower.
The FDA says how long a filler lasts depends on the filler material and where it's injected, and that absorbable fillers break down over time, so the treatment may need repeating. HA fillers are reversible, and HA filler can usually be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. That's a procedure with its own risks, so I treat it as a backup.
Expect a few days of swelling, and a bruise is possible because the skin is thin. Concealer usually covers it. If you have plans or photos coming up, book at least two weeks ahead.
We talk first, and I look at your under-eyes in different light and from the side. If filler is right for you, I explain where I'd place it and what it costs before I start. If it isn't, I'll say so.
Before you book anywhere, read the FDA's page on dermal fillers. These are the reasons I'd ask you to wait or talk it through first:
Common side effects on the FDA's list are bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, and itching, and many clear up within days to weeks. The serious one is filler entering a blood vessel. The FDA calls that chance low, but it can cause tissue damage, vision problems including blindness, or stroke. If you notice unusual pain, any change in your vision, or skin near the injection site turning white, gray, or blue, get care right away.
Near the eyes, any change in vision is the warning sign to take most seriously.
I can't promise the shadow disappears entirely, and I wouldn't want it to. If cheeks are part of it, see cheek filler in Birkdale, or read facial balancing in Birkdale for the whole face. Everything else is on the services page.
