Under-Eye Filler in Davidson, NC

Under-eye filler in Davidson, NC is sometimes the second step in a plan. I'm Kat Chapman, BSN, RN, and when the hollow under your eye is partly caused by volume lost from the cheek below it, I'd rather support the cheek first and see what's left. I treat at Canvas & Glow on Sam Furr Road in Huntersville, under the supervision of a medical director.

Medical director supervision

I'm the RN who does your injection, and every step of the plan is done under the supervision of a medical director, following physician-directed protocols. My medical director has 23 years of practice and about 12 years in aesthetics. You can look up my license on the North Carolina Board of Nursing site.

Why the cheek can matter more

The under-eye and the upper cheek are one surface. As the cheek flattens, the dip under the eye can look deeper, even if the under-eye itself hasn't changed much. Filling only the hollow in that case can look heavy, because the support underneath is still missing.

So I look at both. If cheek support is the bigger factor, we start there and recheck the under-eye at your two-week follow-up. Sometimes that's all you need. Sometimes a small amount under the eye finishes it.

When the under-eye goes first

If your cheeks still have good support and the hollow is the only issue, there's no reason to wait. We treat the under-eye directly, with small amounts, and check it at two weeks.

What it costs

Under-eye filler is priced per syringe and quoted at your free consult. If I suggest cheeks first, I quote both steps up front so you can see the whole plan and decide. The pricing page explains how it works. Financing through Cherry and CareCredit is available for treatment plans.

Does it hurt?

Mostly pressure and a few pinches. Some fillers contain lidocaine, a numbing medicine. I work slowly around the eyes and check in with you as I go.

How long it lasts

The FDA says how long a filler lasts depends on the filler material and where it's injected, and that absorbable fillers break down over time, so the treatment may need repeating. We see how your result is holding at the follow-up, instead of me promising months here.

Downtime

Expect some swelling for a few days, and bruising is possible because the skin under the eye is thin. If we treat cheeks and under-eyes on separate visits, each one has its own few days. Leave two weeks before an event.

Your first visit

  1. We talk about what you see and how long it's bothered you.
  2. I look at your under-eyes and cheeks together, from the front and the side, in different light.
  3. I tell you which goes first and what each step costs. Nothing happens until you say yes.
  4. We treat the first step with small, conservative amounts.
  5. At your included two-week follow-up, we decide whether the second step is needed.

Is under-eye filler safe?

The FDA's page on dermal fillers explains the risks. Wait if you're under 22, since the FDA approves dermal fillers for adults 22 and older, or if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, because the FDA says filler safety there is unknown. If the skin where we'd treat is inflamed or infected, including acne, a rash, or hives, we reschedule. Tell me about a bleeding disorder, severe allergies or past anaphylaxis, a lidocaine allergy, or a tendency to form keloids or raised scars.

Common side effects on the FDA's list are bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, and itching, and many clear up within days to weeks. The serious one is filler entering a blood vessel. The FDA calls that chance low, but it can cause tissue damage, vision problems including blindness, or stroke. If you notice unusual pain, any change in your vision, or skin near the injection site turning white, gray, or blue, get care right away.

Near the eyes, any change in vision is the warning sign to take most seriously.

What I can't promise

I can't tell you from a photo whether you need one step or two. Read cheek filler in Davidson for the cheek side of the plan, facial balancing in Davidson for the whole face, or browse the services page.
