Medical director supervision

Every treatment at Canvas & Glow is done under the supervision of a medical director. I'm the licensed RN doing the injection, and my medical director is a physician with 23 years of practice and about 12 years in aesthetics. The oversight is the same whichever town you drove in from.

My neighborhood, a different room

I've lived in Birkdale for a few years. Most weeks I walk over to the Village for CAVA or Green Brothers, and some evenings it's Suffolk Punch, then the lawn. None of that is where I work.

Search "Botox Birkdale" and you'll find med spas with Birkdale addresses. I'm not one of them, and I'd rather you know that before you book. What you get is an injector who lives in your neighborhood and the same visit I give everyone.

Northstone and Skybrook, too

If you live in Northstone or Skybrook, this page is for you as well. They're inside the roughly seven miles I cover, and the visit is the same: the room on Sam Furr Road, a free consult, and a check at two weeks.

Cost

The same as for anyone else: all neurotoxins are $13 per unit. Typical ranges from my pricing page:

How it feels, and dinner after

A quick pinch from very fine needles. Visits usually run 20 to 30 minutes, and there's no real downtime, so most people can walk to dinner at the Village that night. A small bump or a bruise is possible. Ask me about aftercare if you also have a workout planned.

How long it lasts

Results come in over the first few days and settle at about two weeks. MedlinePlus notes that cosmetic Botox for frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet may be repeated every 3 to 4 months, depending on how long the effect lasts. Results take time to show, so Botox the week of an event is cutting it close. Book two weeks or more ahead.

How the visit goes

We talk first. I watch how your forehead, your 11s, and the corners of your eyes move, and we agree on a plan before I pick up a needle. I dose on the light side and check the result at two weeks, adjusting at no charge. Thinking about lips too? See my Birkdale lip filler page.

When I'd tell you to wait

Botox and Dysport are prescription drugs. MedlinePlus summarizes the patient information for onabotulinumtoxinA (Botox) and abobotulinumtoxinA (Dysport). Bring these up before anything is injected:

  • You're pregnant, planning to be, or breastfeeding.
  • You have a condition that affects muscles or nerves, such as myasthenia gravis, ALS, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or you've had trouble swallowing or breathing.
  • There's swelling or any sign of infection where we'd inject.
  • You've had a side effect from any botulinum toxin product before.

Those MedlinePlus pages also explain the rare chance of the drug spreading beyond where it was injected. You can look up any nurse's license, mine included, on the North Carolina Board of Nursing site. My full menu is on the services page.
